Top fine-tuning specialists, active now
Fine-tuning trains an existing model further on your own examples, so it reliably follows your format, uses your terminology or handles a narrow task better and more cheaply than a general model. Typical uses are classifying enquiries, writing in a house style or extracting fields from forms.
It’s not always the answer. A good specialist will first check whether better prompts or retrieval would do the job, and will talk honestly about data quality, cost and evaluation.

Questions
Fine-tuning: common questions
How much data do I need?
Often fewer examples than people expect: a few hundred high-quality, consistent examples can be enough for a narrow task. Quality matters far more than quantity, and the specialist should help you clean and label what you have.
Is my data safe if it is used for training?
Ask exactly where training happens, who can access the data and the resulting model, and whether anything is kept by a provider. Personal data in training sets needs a lawful basis under UK GDPR, so remove or minimise it where you can.
How will I know the fine-tuned model is better?
Agree a held-back test set and a simple scoring method before training begins, and compare the result with a well-prompted general model. If the improvement doesn’t justify the extra upkeep, a good specialist will tell you.
